How to Nurture a Prayer Revival

by Dale Partridge

John Bunyan once said, “Prayer opens the heart to God, and it is the means by which the soul, though empty, is filled with Him.” If the Lord is spiritual food and drink then prayer is the fork and knife and cup by which we consume Him. In other words, prayer is the means by which our relationship with God is nurtured.

Are you one of the many Christians who struggle to break through into a powerful and consistent prayer life? You’re not alone; it is an all too common issue in the lives of believers today. Sadly, most modern Christians have not seen or read the prayers of a mature believer. Most modern Christians have not been taught the biblical principles of prayer.

For that reason, in this episode of Real Christianity, Dale Partridge breaks down the basic fundamentals of biblical prayer and how Christians can harness these truths to experience revival in their own prayer life..

Scripture References

  • Philippians 4:6

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

  • Romans 8:26

“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”

  • Matthew 6:5-8

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. 7 “And when you pray, do not heap up empty phrases as the Gentiles do, for they think that they will be heard for their many words. 8 Do not be like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.”

  • Galatians 5:17

“For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do.”

  • Luke 18:9-14

“Also He spoke this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: 10 “Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. 11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, ‘God, I thank You that I am not like other men—extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this tax collector. 12 I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I possess.’ 13 And the tax collector, standing afar off, would not so much as raise his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me a sinner!’ 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

  • Psalm 23:1-3

“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures;  He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness. For His name’s sake.”
