How to Fall in Love with the Bible

by Dale Partridge

The purpose of the Christian life is to know God and make Him known. God has revealed Himself through the written Word. Therefore, reading the Bible is the central way to become familiar with your Creator.

However, the church of today has become increasingly interested in seeking knowledge of God in ways outside of Scripture. We have elevated our emotions and creation to be valid sources for attaining theological and doctrinal understanding. This, however, is not instructed nor permitted in Scripture.

How can we refocus our efforts on seeking God solely through His holy Word? How can we find contentment and sufficiency in the grand Book of Scripture? In this episode, Dale and Veronica Partridge discuss the discipline of biblical devotion and how a love for God’s Word can change everything.

Scripture References

  • Matthew 4:4

    “It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”

  • Hebrews 4:12

    “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

  • Psalm 1

    Blessed is the man
    who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
    nor stands in the way of sinners,
    nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
    2 but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
    and on his law he meditates day and night.

    3 He is like a tree
    planted by streams of water
    that yields its fruit in its season,
    and its leaf does not wither.
    In all that he does, he prospers.
    4 The wicked are not so,
    but are like chaff that the wind drives away.

    5 Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
    nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
    6 for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
    but the way of the wicked will perish.
